Design Prototyping

A key process in creating usable products

Prototyping an interface is a process that is still used for great effect in user experience design. Interpix Design applies tried, tested and true prototyping methods that will render critical insights into your users and their interactions with your products.

We start with paper prototypes, testing user reaction to initial concepts then test iterations at every phase of the design process. We end with rigorous usability testing with actual subjects working on a final prototype of your interaction. The best products begin with prototype Alpha and end with iteration Omega, an excellent product, nothing like the original but one that users find usable and simply useful™.

We're saying that out of experience. We've worked on great products for great companies from Microsoft to Rogers to NCR and ADP to just about all of the top banks. Why not run your product through a full suite of tests to find out what users really want - then give it to them? We think usability testing should be an important part of any business plan for a product that dares to be great.

Dare to be great, with an Interpix Design.

More about product testing and prototyping

Facebook and other social media applications that fail leave their developers, builders and backers scratching their heads. They attribute failure to an over-saturated market or user fatigue.

But so often it goes back to one of the oldest bugbears of technology from throughout history: usability.

Imagine all the inventors of better mousetraps that no one knew how to work or use. We bet there have been millions of them. Most of them were very smart people who did not test their product on real users to tweak the product to optimal usability. And many of them worked hard to improve technology but were complacent about real user needs.

We think we're seeing a trend toward complacency in technology now, too.

In the early days of web technology a few companies employed extensive usability testing of products, applications and interfaces. The list of companies that focused or focuses on user testing reads like a who's who of technology powerhouses including Microsoft, Apple, Macromedia, Adobe, etc.

For a while, second and third tier companies seemed to be catching on in a big way and there was a great deal of interest in the usability of interaction design. In recent years, though, we've seen that interest recede - but this is really the same complacency that makes companies, technologies and economies fall into recession.

Break out of your own recession by contacting Interpix today.
