Heuristic Evaluation
An heuristic evaluation is probably the most popular type of usability consulting we do here at Interpix Deisgn. We can provide you with an expert review of your site or interface, as we have done for many, many companies in the past. You will certainly benefit from our deep experience in this area.
What is an heuristic evaluation?
An heuristic evaluation is a usability analysis or expert review that only serves to identify essential problems with a user interface design. (A Wikipedia entry calls it "a discount usability inspection.") As is the industry standard, a heuristic analysis from Interpix Design means one of our team of experts will have a look over your interface and offer straightforward judgments on its compliance with usability principles ("heuristics").
Usability heuristics are taught in many new media courses but these can still be forgotten or lost in many companies' design processes. A professional heuristic evaluation provides a medium ground between simple design and more involved interface testing or user centered design and can take place early in the design process.

More about heuristics
An heuristic evaluation is relatively informal compared to some other kinds of usability consulting. Within the industry there are many different sets of usability heuristics with no one list being standard. While they may cover many of the same aspects of interface design, heuristic evaluations vary widely in focus from one project to another. We are likely to adapt our heuristics to meet the particulars of your interface.
You can look at some of the basic heuristics that come from Jakob Nielsen.
