Extensive user testing is the best way to fully understand your users

Usability testing is the most expensive, most time consuming - and most important - part of the process of user experience design. While there are many companies that balk at the expense of usability testing, the list of companies that have exploited usability testing to its fullest potential reads like a who's who of NASDAQ. Companies as diverse in product but uniform in success as Microsoft, FedEx and CIBC indulge in extensive usability testing before they push a site or application live.

Interpix Design brings with it a long history of usability testing and a rich understanding of the process. To properly meet the objectives of usability-testing, we employ the following processes:

• Usability test subjects are given a careful walk through of your design, where we observe them performing appointed tasks
• We quantify test results and findings whenever possible
• We encourage test users to think aloud and tell us how they are exploring your site
• We may even employ the following
  • Testing inside a usability lab where we record all user activity
  • Usability testing lab sessions inside research facilities
  • Test interviews via remote means, if your website's users are geographically disparate
  • Usability measurement via eye tracking and related technologies - ideally suited to rapidly testing web designs
• We debrief usability test subjects. Our post-test questions explore the test subject's experiences, teasing out insights into their experience of the interface and your brand along with their preferences for alterations.
