Website accessibility

Ease of access for every user remains an ideal of the web

Accessibility of the web has been an ideal from its inception through to the proliferation of web 2.0 sites and applications. The web has always been concerned with putting you, the user, first - regardless of your abilities or disabilities.

Web accessibility remains an issue for usability specialists such as the team you'll find at Interpix.

Usability consultations where web accessibility has been a major aspect and accomplishment include our consultation with the City of Hamilton during the SARS crisis, a critical time in the health care history of Toronto. The eyes of the world had turned on Southern Ontario in 2003, when over 40 people died of SARS and thousands more became ill. We all remember the images of Torontonians walking the streets wearing surgical masks.

Interpix was called on for a usability consultation with the Ontario Ministry of Health. They required an easy way for frontline doctors and other health care specialists to collect data and report it in a time-critical situation. In addition, the solution was supposed to be usable for other health care interfaces and future reporting needs.

We started with the users, found out what they wanted then applied our expertise in usable web design to deliver an interface that met the challenges they faced.
