The Interpix user-centered approach began with a review of the current screen designs, functionality, content and information architecture of the site. Based on this assessment, we identified any usability problems and successes and made design recommendations accordingly.
Next, we took our design prototype out to 5 North American cities for user testing and focus groups, to gather usage perceptions and to validate our preliminary design ideas. Testing methodologies included:
user interviews
splash page testing to compare alternative page designs
quick screen tests to measure page clarity and self-evidency
user tasks to reveal navigational strategies
Based on the findings of Interpix's usability evaluation, we prepared a concise summary report and presented the findings to the CTC team, with recommendations for content and functional enhancements. As with all Interpix projects, our approach was consultative, conversational and interactive - with the aim of transferring usability testing expertise and human factors knowledge to the CTC project team.
