Web accessibility
Ontario was one of the first jurisdictions in the world to enact legislation establishing a goal for digital inclusion.
Since January 1st, 2021, it was ruled that all public websites must meet specific rules set out by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). The law requires your organization to identify any barriers and remove them to provide customer service that is more accessible to people who have disabilities.
As user experience experts, Interpix has been designing inclusive digital experiences for over 20 years. We follow a proven process that seeks to understand users with laser clarity, evaluate how they use digital products, and design solutions to fix digital problems. Helping deliver real value to your customer drives every digital experience we create.
With the introduction of the AODA–and guided by the internationally recognized Web Accessibility Initiative guidelines (WCAG)–this process has never been more critical. Websites and digital content of public and private companies in Ontario now need to comply with specific accessibility requirements.

Why accessibility matters
Accessibility isn't just a checkbox; it's a fundamental aspect of digital design that ensures equal access and usability for all individuals, including those with disabilities. By prioritizing accessibility, we not only comply with legal requirements such as the AODA but also demonstrate a commitment to social responsibility and user inclusivity.
Our approach
Accessibility is integrated into every stage of our design and development process. We employ inclusive design principles from the outset, ensuring that diverse user needs are considered from conception to implementation.
We adhere strictly to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 standards, incorporating best practices for perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness into our designs.
Accessibility testing
We offer comprehensive accessibility testing services.
- Automated Accessibility Testing: We utilize industry-leading automated testing tools to identify common accessibility issues and ensure compliance with WCAG guidelines efficiently.
- Manual Accessibility Testing: While automated accessibility testing tools can provide valuable insights, we recognize their limitations in capturing the full spectrum of user experiences, which is why manual testing is a good option to ensure your website or product is complaint. For example, screen reader compatibility testing, keyboard navigation testing, etc.
- User-Centered Usability Testing: In addition to traditional usability testing, we can integrate usability testing sessions with individuals representing diverse disabilities. This approach provides invaluable insights into real-world user experiences and helps identify accessibility barriers that may otherwise go unnoticed.
